Pakistan Flooding

Salam and greetings,

As of August 15th 2010,
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has described as "heart-wrenching" the destruction he witnessed on a visit to flood-devastated Pakistan.

Mr Ban said the scale of the disaster was greater than anything he had seen before.

The Pakistani government says up to 20 million people have now been affected by the monsoon floods.

At least 1,500 are known to have lost their lives.

"The people of Pakistan need food, emergency shelters, medicines, clean water," he said.

"We are all deeply concerned about the spread of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases. All our combined medical capacity will be needed to provide the right drugs and care."

He said one fifth of Pakistan had been ravaged by floods.

On August 23rd,
Like so many villages here, [Goth Mohammed Ismael has] turned into an island, and we found its people bobbing up and down in the filthy brown floodwater, as they waded and swam back to their homes to try to salvage what possessions they could.

Amina, a mother of six, says..."The flood came at one o'clock in the morning... I was feeding my baby at the time. There was panic everywhere. People were crying and asking each other for help."

A man called Hamed Bux emerges from the water with a bundle on his head. "These clothes are all I have left in the world, please help us," he said.

Help is coming, but painfully slowly.

Most of the flood victims have still received no aid at all.

Please help!

Pada bulan Julai 2010, dunia telah menyaksikan kekejaman tentera Israel yang menyerang kapal Mavi Marmara yang membawa bantuan kemanusiaan untuk penduduk Gaza.

In July 2010, the world has seen the cruelty of the Israeli army who attacked the Mavi Marmara ship, which was carrying human aid for citizens of Gaza.

Before the Freedom Flotilla issue has even been resolved, Muslims around the world is then shocked by the news of the flooding of Swat Valley, Pakistan which has so far taken 1500 lives and affected [millions of] Pakistani citizens.

Update 14/09/10: This double-donation drive has been closed. Please visit their blog entry regarding this or their Facebook profile.

Jazakallahu khairan for all your help!

Regards,
