According to FIANZ,
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam,
Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
On behalf of the Hilal Committee, I am pleased to confirm that the new moon for Shawaal has been sighted today. Eid-ul-Fitr will therefore be celebrated all over New Zealand tomorrow, 10 September 2010.
Eid Mubarak. Kullu Amatum Bi Khair
Jazakallahu Khairan and Wasalaam
Sheikh Mohammad Amir
For Hilal Committee
Eid prayers
There will be eid prayers held at the mosques around Wellington e.g. Kilbirnie. Prayers at Kilbirnie will take place at 9am inshallah.
For students who are really unable to attend the mosques tomorrow (due to early morning classes), there will be a small Eid prayer session at uni performed by some of our members. The prayer will start at 8am, and you can attend as early as 7.30am. The 'takbir' will be done around 7.45am.
Jazakallahu khairan and hope you have a fantastic Eid.
( And don't forget to perform your zakat before the solat for Eid as well! :) )
